Traditionally, woodcarving is the specialty of a hand-made woodcutter who cleverly etched lines into blocks of wood to make beautiful objects. But today it is very possible to carve for you with a machine. Lin Zhihong of Moon CNC engraving Sdn Bhd has begun to rely on computer numerical control systems, or more famous CNC, to do complicated work for him. The company currently produces carved wooden boards and also provides carpentry ( A form of carpentry used to make wooden objects on a lathe)services. The moon CNC carving, originally known as moon furniture, was founded in 1972 by Lin\'s father, Xu Hong, a carpenter. The company was originally made of furniture. At its peak, the company hired a team of 12 skilled workers to make gorgeous wooden furniture for its customers. But skilled craftsmen and workers have become more and more difficult over the years. Wood carving, like many other crafts, has become an art that is on the verge of extinction. As the labor force became a problem, Lin\'s family decided to seek technical help. They invested some RM350, 000 for a CNC machine in Italy to take over the labor force Intensive cultivation of wood carvings. \"It was a new technology that was available in the market at that time and we decided to invest. The machine works faster and can do all the wood cutting and engraving work, so we don\'t have to rely on skilled workers. Lin currently employs a four-person group in the wood cutting department because he does not need more skilled workers. All the woodcarving work these days is done by reliable machines. With the arrival of new machines, the company decided to shift the focus from manufacturing furniture to producing machines The carved wooden board was renamed the numerical control carving of the moon to reflect the new direction. Although Lin came from a group of carpenters His grandfather was also a timber craftsman. Lin did not learn any wood processing skills. \"I don\'t know how to do carpentry, I only know the design work. It is much easier to operate the machine. \"I have no talent for carpentry,\" he confesses . \". Lin, a graduate of interior design, worked in interior design and did not return until 2000 when his father brought in a new machine to help his father do business. When CNC machines solved the company\'s labor problems, Lam said convincing the market that a new product was a whole new challenge. \"Wood carving is always considered a traditional skill in traditional wood design. So when you tell people that there is a machine that can do this right now, it\'s hard to understand that you have to convince the designer to design a more modern design for the board, he said. Machines, Lin explained. Developed countries have begun to use auxiliary wood carvings, and he has introduced more designs from overseas to inspire local interior designers and architects to explore different ideas. Similarly, end-users also need to believe that, as Lam points out, not everyone likes traditional wood carving designs and that Wood carving can get a modern style. It is a long-term and arduous task to educate the market on new technologies. \"Now it\'s easier for people to embrace the concept of automated engraving. Thanks to the Internet, people can better understand the new trends, and local consumers and designers can master modern design faster, \"he said. The local market is indeed catching up. The demand for wood paneling is growing, Lin said, as they provide an artistic and modern feel for residential and commercial properties. Moon CNC engraving is mainly custom designed for architects and interior designers, which, Lam notes, makes the company different from other woodcarvings. \"I think some other companies also use CNC technology to carve wood, but we all serve a slightly different market. Therefore, there are no direct competitors in our region in terms of competition . \" It is worth noting that, as Lam said, the company\'s growth depends largely on the growth of the economy, \"not everyone will spend extra on things like planks. \"The annual revenue for CNC engraving on the moon is 1 million to 2 million, most of which come from projects. The company has been involved in projects including the twin towers, the Capitol and the Atlanta hotel in Dubai. Lin hopes to work on more projects, but notes that the availability of these contracts depends on the market. The lunar CNC engraving company will expand into the Middle East next year. \"They also like wood carving, and the market is growing. They don\'t have manufacturing facilities there, so we have a chance there . \" Lin likes to see his design presentation and says the company has received various orders from a range of surprising customers. The project he was most proud of was- Date is making a web production panel for Hollywood, which was filmed in Malaysia last year. \"What I do for the set is small, but being able to be a part of something so big, I\'m very proud. I was very surprised when we received the inquiry. It\'s exciting and fun. \"Such things make work interesting,\" he said . \".
