The purpose of Instructure is to show the audience how to design the furniture to be cut using computer digital control (CNC)machine.
CNC furniture can be designed to use the least supply and no fasteners by using a range of components in stretching and compression.
Materials and tools: CNC machine computer with Google \"SketchUp.
Choosing what to build is the key first step in designing objects made using CNC machines.
Flat objects and patterns are easier to design because the object only needs to be drawn on two dimensions.
Jigsaw puzzles, carved maps and game boards are great examples of simple 2D projects that can be made using this technology.
Working in a 3D space adds a certain degree of complexity to the project, as material properties need to be considered more thoroughly.
When selecting an object, consider the following points: 4.
Place the assembly in tension close to compression. 2.
Draw a single element using sketchup1.
Mark all horizontal components as having the same internal width. 2.
Dimension the end of the compressed element to penetrate at least the width of the material. 3.
The tension element slides in place with respect to other elements, so it should be much more than the thickness of the material. 1.
Draw a gap at the end of the stretch element.
Determine the distance from a single tension element to slide to the locked assembly. 1.
Arrange all the elements to where they will be placed. 2.
Insert all parts except the final one into one side of the Assembly.
Note: The last one should lock everything in the right place, shown here in blue. 3.
Insert the component into the other half of the component. 4.
Forced both sides to oppose the internal width cuts5 closely.
Slide all tension parts into their final position. 6.
Slide the last piece in place and lock the other tension elements in place. 7.
Make the necessary adjustments if the elements are not appropriate. 1.
Remove all marks, measurements, rails, etc from drawing 2.
Move elements as efficiently as possible to use materials.
Convert the drawing to black and white using the available styles.
Export the image to 2D image 5.
Save the file as the file type. DWG1.

Make necessary adjustments to the drawing, such as scaling, line color, line weight, etc.
A scaled version of cutting components with a laser cutter is being shown, but for most types of CNC machines the process is the same.
Material thickness will be the control measurement when scaling the model;
In the model, the thickness of the original material is 3/4, but it is reduced to 1/8.
It is important to use material thickness when scaling to ensure that the cut is still tightly sliding on adjacent components. 1.
Remove parts from scrap. 2.
Follow the assembly order determined in step 73.
If all elements are not placed correctly, make the necessary adjustments from step 4. Congrats!
