$20 cnc machine

by:QY Precision      2019-09-04
When I looked at the easy-to-build step controller Instructure, I was inspired by this Instructure.
When I read the instructions, I knew that I could make a decent looking, functional cnc machine for less than $20 with recycled twist, not to mention that I was in less than a week
I would like you to have basic knowledge of power tools and manual tools, and of course, this instruction manual requires you to have a rotary tool such as dremel.
Even if you don\'t have any knowledge about power tools or manual tools, I suggest you try this instructable because you will learn a lot about manual tools and power tools, you can use less than £ 20 so it\'s not a big deal if you mess up and it won\'t cost much to replace a part. Let\'s Build!
Update 02/01/10 {
Hi all, I just wanted to give you an update on this Instructure as I have received a lot of emails and messages etc.
As I said in my comments, I am close to completing the electronics of CNC, and the stepping motor I found in the printer is double-
If you take this route, the circuit will cost more polar stepping motors.
If you\'re lucky enough to find some single-pole stepping motors, then you can make electronics for less than $3, but the single-pole motors have less torque.
I will be selling CNC kits very soon, they are better made quality and cheap because I know how the budget is, the world needs more DIY builders to create simple things, even complex things, without the tools I need.
The CNC kits will be available about 1 to 2 weeks after the electronic instructions are released and they will actually be a video showing the CNC work when the electronic instructions are complete}
Now, this is the most enjoyable part of building a cnc machine that is trying to find the trash that people want to throw away.
Here\'s where you need to find the old printer for the tablet scanner. These two things will have your juicy stepping motor and beautiful hardened steel bars, and what you can get from these green machines is not the only thing.
You will find gears, Bushing, cold cathode, capacitors, buttons, parallel ports and so on.
Now I try to make this with the most basic necessities so I can show you that it is possible to make cnc machines with very few things.
Tools required: drill screw drive tap and mold special tool Hack sawVise or some form of clamping device clamp drill bitsFileCenter punchRecommended recommended tool: the center core of your cnc machine is your desk, so read it carefully and follow the instructions.

50 now, it\'s just a run out of everything, of course I cut everything, you can buy what you see here from your local hardware store and plastic store for a very cheap price
The first step stack 2 of expanded pvc pieces of the same size, drill a whole in the center, drill two holes every three quarters from the edge of the center line.
Now cut your aluminum rods into a certain size and stick them together, now, you should have a similar part for all the axes, it\'s now the most time consuming part to make a slide sheet, but once it\'s done, it feels like the project is starting.
Need MaterialsQuantity type Cost January \"x12\" x1/month \"pressure plate Scrap January\" x10 \"1/4\" acrylic plate Scrap January 1 /2 \"x5\" x1/month \"acrylic plate Scrap month 1/2\" x1 3/4 [x1/2] acrylic sheet scrap what you want to do now is stack 4 pieces 1 1/2 \"x1 3/4\" x1/2 \", and drill the dead center with a 3/8 bit after completion so FEED 2 pieces on each rod, arrange them, put your sheets on top, and now flip it over with glue.
Now it\'s a good time to repeat each axis for your Y axis so you can install what you want to cut.
Now, they all make a difference depending on where you get the motor from, so they need special brackets. I recommend the printer step motors as they are easy to install but the scanner step motors will work fine.
Now, in step 3, you should drill the motor hole, and now all you have to do is install it on the coupler that is connected from the stepping motor to the screw bar that you have.
I made one with aluminum, but you can make one with plastic as long as you are wide enough.
All you have to do is drill to the size of the stepping machine at the center of a small piece of Rod, and then drill to 5/16 of the threaded rod on the other side.
After that, tap the 5/16 side and glue and once you make the coupler, it\'s time to connect the screw bar and glue to one of the 1/2 \"x1 3/4\" x1/2 \"squares blocking you have to make sure that the center on the thread coupler matches the center of the screw bar.
After you should get something like the number of materials below the requirements type Cost3 5/8 \"-
24x1 \"threaded coupler 0.
Repeat 60 times per axis, so now you should finish all the three axes and now it\'s time to align and glue them.
The base I use is a piece of white acrylic that I found in the plastic shop for 20 \"x12\" x1/4 \", you can use smaller, but once you find the base, I wouldn\'t recommend sticking the x-axis to it, then sticking the y-axis to the top of the x-axis acrylic, and then you should have something like that below.
Use acrylic glue in this step, and if you\'re sticking the z-axis to a piece of 8 \"x4\" x1/4 \"acrylic sheet with glue, it will also glue the expanded pvc.
Required material: quantity type Cost1 20 \"x12\" x1/4 \"acrylic scratch 1 8\" x4 \"x1/4\" acrylic scratch don\'t worry, I didn\'t forget, now we want to use the bracket for rotating tool on acrylic sheet on Z axis I use Tube clamp and screw clamp, you can buy these two items at local hardware store for very cheap price.
You have to cut a small lip to attach to the acrylic sheet, because the pipe holder will not be flat once you slide the rotating tool in, because it will expand.
Place the Pipe Holder on top of the acrylic lip and glue.
The number of materials required for the installation of the Cost1 pipe 0.
401 screw clip FreeNow, you made the Z axis rotation installation, and now it\'s time to set the columns and acrylic sheets that connect them.
You need to have a square hole in the center of 10 \"x16\" x5/16 \"acrylic sheets in order to pass the Z axis through the acrylic resin supporting the Z axis after cutting.
When you\'re done, you should attach the z-axis to it and make sure the acrylic is sticking out at least 1/16 from the edge so you can have a flat side.
Required materials: quantity type Cost1 10 \"x 16\" x5/16 \"acrylic sheet waste 1 1/2\" x5 \"x1\" acrylic sheet waste (Also known as thick film)
Now is the time to stick 1 1/2 \"x16\" x1 \"to the top of the z-axis acrylic, and then after you finish, you stick it to the base.
Required material: quantity type Cost4 1 1/2 \"x16\" x1 \"scrap answer is no, but we are indeed mechanical now because I don\'t have time to add the electronic part to this note, so I will be providing a complete set of instructions specifically for the electronics section at some point this week and a video.
So, turning the frown upside down is a pretty big job, although it may not look like it when you finish it, and the electronic instruction manual will be done.
I will most likely add it on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

50 I got all my plastic from the faucet plastic trash can and the rest from Home Depot and a local metal shop.
Now, the stepping motor you find in the printer will do a good job, but after a while, I highly recommend upgrading to some larger stepping motors.
As for the expanded pvc, I will replace it with acrylic, but I will do it because I have a budget and the time is short, I have no choice but to use the expanded pvc, but I would really recommend you with acrylic.
